2013 Bowman Baseball Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Bowman Baseball is consistent and familiar.  Very little changes from year to year.  For 2013 Bowman Baseball, Dylan Bundy and Byron Buxton take center stage. If Bowman has been a part of your collection in the past, you will want to get in on this year’s set too.  If you are new to Bowman, you will find this a nice set to put together.

Bowman Baseball falls under our classification of trading cards. 2013 Bowman Baseball can be found in a variety of retail and hobby configurations.  This review is based on a hobby box that contains 24 – 10 card packs and features one autographed Bowman Chrome in every box.

Here is a look at some of the cards we pulled.

2013 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Trading Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Cards, which is based on the 1887 N174 release, is now in its third year.  While this is still a set the builders look forward to putting together, some of the luster is gone compared to the first two releases.  But on the plus side Topps has kept the multiple levels of commitment for set builders and made the photo variations much easier to spot.

Gypsy Queen falls under our classification of trading cards.  You can find it in retails and hobby form with Hobby Boxes containing 24 – 10 card packs with a box topper of 10 minis and 2 relic and 2 autograph cards.

Here are some of the cards we pulled.

2013 Topps Opening Day Baseball Box Break Recap And Review

As in past years, Opening Day essentially mimics Topps Series 1 & 2 for base card design, but then offers a lot of great inserts.  At its low price point, Opening Day is a bargain that always seems to hit its mark.  While it might skew towards younger collectors, there is still enough here for experienced collectors.  2013 Topps Opening Day Baseball is a lot of fun and perfect for set building.

Opening Day could easily fit into both our fun cards and trading cards categories, but for the purpose of this review, we will classify Opening Day as fun cards.  Opening Day can be found in many different retail configurations.  We opened a complete box that contained 36 packs with 7 cards per pack.  There are autographs to be found in Opening Day, but they are rare to find.

Here is a look at some of the cards we pulled.

2013 Topps Heritage Baseball Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Set builders rejoice, 2013 Topps Heritage Baseball is here.  This year’s release is based on the cards of 1964 Topps Baseball.   Topps has changed some things up again this year which is starting to over complicate what used to be a simple set.  What was fun for the 2011 Heritage set based on the error cards that actually existed in the 1962 Topps Baseball cards that was then expanded with the 2012 Heritage set that made some sense based on the 1963 Topps Baseball cards set now seems a bit like overkill for 2013 Heritage.  But that won't matter to most seasoned collectors as they will be busting boxes of Heritage for the set building regardless.  My hope is Topps scales this back and holds a bit truer to the 1965 Topps Baseball set for next year's Heritage.

This set falls under our classification of trading cards.  There are multiple retail configurations and hobby boxes so Heritage is accessible to all.   Again, no gum this year.  Hobby boxes come with 24-9 card packs and 1 Autograph or Relic per box

Here are some of the cards we pulled.

2012 13 Panini Limited Basketball Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Panini Limited tends to be an interesting break, no matter the sport offering a familiar configuration across the board. 2012 13 Panini Limited Basketball is no exception.  Add the continuity program of a pack of Kobe Anthology in every box of basketball cards this year along with a double rookie class and you’ve got a fun break with some nice upside potential.

Limited Football fits nicely into our premium cards category.  Each hobby box contains 7 cards with a promise of two autographs and one memorabilia card per box.

2012 Bowman Sterling Football NFL Trading Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Sterling is the top of the Bowman line, providing the biggest “High Risk, High Reward” offering. For 2012 Bowman Sterling Football the single most important element that can spread that risk is present, a strong rookie class.  That enables you to miss on the monster hits but still walk away with a decent box of cards.  With 12 hits per box plus a Rookie Patch Box Topper card for a total of 13 hits, there is ample opportunity to pull some great cards.

Bowman Sterling Football comes in at the high end of our premium cards category because of the number of hits in each box.  Each hobby box contains 6 packs with 5 cards each and a box topper bonus Rookie Patch card.  Each pack should yield 3 Rookie Cards,  1 Rookie Autograph and 1 Jumbo Rookie or Veteran Relic Card.
