2012 13 Panini Classics Signatures Hockey Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  While some may swoon over a 1965 Mustang Fastback GT350, others may look at it as just an old car.  But even those that may bypass that car cannot take away the Classic designation it has earned by displaying intrinsic value with a timeless quality. 2012 13 Panini Classics Signatures Hockey Cards have earned their Classic designation by selection of players that have made the sport great.  An often under served segment of Hockey Card collectors will rejoice just looking at the checklist while others will simple see this as a set without rookies.  For students of the game and seasoned collectors, Classics Signatures will be a welcomed addition to their collections.

We classify Classics Signatures Hockey as premium cards. Each hobby box contains 6-5 card packs. Each box contains 6 autographs.

Here are some of the cards we pulled.

Base Set
Luc Robitaille, front and back

Bill Clement, Dale Tallon, Rick Middleton
John LeClair, Adam Foote, Al MacInnis
Ray Ferraro, Harry Howell, Olaf Kolzig

Inserts - Die Cut Banner Numbers
Dave Taylor, Guy Lafleur, Paul Coffey
Dale Hunter, Brett Hull, Steve Yzerman

The Hits
Ken Linseman Autograph, Kris Draper Autograph
Dave Gagner Autograph, Mike Peca Autograph, Brian Bellows Autograph
Norm Ullman The Originals Autograph #/50

Overall Look
While the design of these cards has a throwback feel, they don’t feel dated, fitting the Classics definition quite well.  While the base card design also serves as a majority of the autograph cards, there is the Panini Autograph guarantee written on the backs of the cards to ensure you aren’t duped in the secondary market.  Other hit card designs work well but the standouts are the Social Signatures and The Originals.  The die cut banners look great too.

Quality and Variety of Players
Rookie speculators need not apply here, this set is reserved for proven talent and there is plenty of it.

Do the Hits satisfy?
Panini knows their market here and this set will make collectors very happy.

Will you keep coming back for more?
This set has so much to offer it is hard to see collectors stopping at one box. For those on tighter budgets, team set building on the secondary market will be a must.

Rating
5 out of 5

In an age of Rookie centric collecting it is great to see an alternative like 2012 13 Panini Classics Signatures Hockey.  It certainly lives up to its name.
