2012 13 Panini Limited Basketball Cards Box Break Recap And Review

Panini Limited tends to be an interesting break, no matter the sport offering a familiar configuration across the board. 2012 13 Panini Limited Basketball is no exception.  Add the continuity program of a pack of Kobe Anthology in every box of basketball cards this year along with a double rookie class and you’ve got a fun break with some nice upside potential.

Limited Football fits nicely into our premium cards category.  Each hobby box contains 7 cards with a promise of two autographs and one memorabilia card per box.

Here are the cards we pulled.
Base Set
 Joakim Noah, front and back
 Glen Davis, Omer Asik

Base Parallel
Omri Casspi Silver Spotlight #/49

This year in all of the Panini Basketball releases there will be a 5 card bonus pack top loaded in each box.  All cards will be part of the Kobe Bryant Anthology and cover his entire career with the Lakers. Here are the cards from our pack.

Card #12, front and back, Card #54
 Card #69, Card #104, Card #140

 The Hits
George Hill Performers #/199, Nick Collison Performers Prime #/10
Quincy Acy Unlimited Potential Auto #/199, Andrew Nicholson Auto #/399

Overall Look
Base cards are predominantly mirror foil, on the front; hits are more standard in their design. The design overall is sometimes thrilling, some times not so much.  Sometimes it appears that hit certain hit cards are just a riff on other hit cards within the same set. In this year’s push towards acetate, the rookie autographs in the die cut shape of the ROY trophy work well.

Quality and Variety of Players
This is on par for a limited offering.  It relies heavily on the 2012 Rookie Class but still offers up some big name hits.

Do the Hits satisfy?
The majority of the hits here are going to be the acetate diecut Rookie autos and the Unlimited Potential autographs, both of which we pulled and both of which are rookie centric.  There are some players with real potential in this class so there is a good chance you will be happy with the cards you find.  Veterans are represented but to a lesser extent.

Will you keep coming back for more?
Limited is definitely one of those products that is a multiple box purchase.  If you like the look of these cards and you can swing it, a full case would be the way to go.

Rating
4 out of 5

2012 13 Panini Limited Basketball delivers a familiar, solid box of cards helped by a rookie class that could prove their worth in the future.
