2012/13 Panini Threads Basketball Box Break Recap And Review

It is hard to find much of anything good to come out of a lockout shortened season, especially when it comes to trading cards.  It messes up rookie cards, forces a smaller slate of cards and tends to dampen enthusiasm.  But that is usually followed up with good things in the season that follows a shortened one.  That is evident in the 2012 – 13 line of Basketball cards from Panini.  Double the rookies, more time given to releases and a concerted effort to bring fans back into the fold translates into great sets of cards and 2012/13 Panini Threads Basketball is certainly one of them.

We classify Panini Threads as trading cards.  Each box contains 24 - 5 card packs with a promise of three autographs and one memorabilia card in every box.

Here are some of the cards we pulled.

Overall Look
The base cards are fantastic.  Copper foil accents and bold typeface combine with spectacular photography.  That clean, crisp design follows through to the backs of these cards as well.  Inserts are dynamic and hit cards are great.  Team Threads Jersey die-cuta are a collector favorite.

Quality and Variety of Players
The 150 base set offers a really good mix of current and retired players.  Autograph possibilities here are top notch.

Do the hits hold up?
Plenty of On Card autos and Rookie autos on wood cards are just part of the desirable hits.  You’ve also got a shot at Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, Magic Johnson, and David Robinson autos.  Not too shabby.

Will you want to collect them all?
When you have  set that looks as good as this one, you will want to collect them all.
